About this data
Every line in this table has been checked against its own edition’s record, one at a time, and carries a link to that source. None of it comes from an aggregate list.
That standard is not decoration. An earlier version of this table, built from aggregate lists, was wrong on thirteen of twenty-three lines, including two where the wrong woman was named. Eleven carried an invented numeric rank: the editions publish bands (Top 10, Top 15, Top 21), not a position inside the band. So we publish the band, never a rank.
Aggregate lists also print the winner's country in the column a reader takes for the host country, which is enough to invent a French edition in 1953.
